Herbs Black Cumin |
Black cumin has the characteristics : Seed crops as a whole looks like a triangle, black seeds, very flavorful and tasted bitter sting, 35-50 cm tall branching and circular at the top, hairless, has flowers with bluish-white color, and filled with foliage. Seed beads can reproduce itself by itself and will undergo metamorphosis (change in physical form and maturation) of the seed (at first) which is white becomes black beans (after metamorphosis).
Several studies have reported that the chemical content of black cumin essential oils, fatty oils, unsaturated fatty acids (omega 3 and omega 6) d-limonena, Simena, glucoside, saponin, bitter substances, jigelin, nigelon, and timokuinon (Anonymous, 2008 ).
Black cumin oil contains fatty acids which consist of: linoleic acid 56%, 24.6%oleic acid; palmitic acid 12%, 3% stearic acid; eikosadienoat acid 2.5%, 0.7%linolenic acid, and myristic acid 0,16%.
